Advanced Theory and Methods in Strategy
Course Program
This course focuses on empirical research within the Management and Strategy domain. It is a prerequisite for all students, who wish to write their Master thesis at our chair. Students become familiar with different types of conducting research. They learn how an academic article is structured and what to pay attention to within each section. Students learn how Hypotheses are developed from theory and what theory is about. Students read and discuss various studies for this purpose. Participants also work on their writing style. In addition, students learn statistical methods and apply them using appropriate statistical software. At the end of the course, students will be able to plan the entire research process, apply appropriate methods, discuss and elaborate on relevant findings.
Registration
The number of participants is limited to a maximum of 16 students. Students who wish to take the course can apply by email to the Chair of Corporate Management (wiso-unternehmensfuehrung@fau.de) with the subject „Application ATMS“ up until 7th October 2024. For this purpose, please send along a transcript of records as well as your CV. Please also make sure that your application e-mail contains your FAU e-mail address and your StudOn user ID.
We will notify you shortly after whether you can join the seminar.
For students who started their studies before the winter term 2023/24, the course is assigned to the area „Management research methods“ (compulsory area II) with the module number 55470. Alternatively, the course can be completed within the elective area as part of the focus area „Management research“.
For students who started their studies in or after the winter term 2023/24, the course can only be completed within the elective area as part of the focus area „Management research“.
