Problem Solving and Communication

Lecture content

The course “problem solving and communication” is about solving strategic problems. In this context students are supposed to apply different approaches and methods of strategic management. Based on case studies and one specific problem taken from real business contexts, several approaches and techniques will be provided. These can help to identify, analyze, evaluate, solve and communicate new and/or complex corporate problems.

As interactive teaching and learning methods are mainly applied during the course, only a small part of the course content is taught through “theoretical” lectures. Rather, teaching focuses on tutorials, usages, discussions and team work. In doing so, teams of students have to work on a real case study and present their results.

Registration

In order to participate in the course “Problem solving and communication” a registration on StudOn is necessary. You can register from 12 March 2018, 10am up to and including 02 April 2018, 12am. Please note that the number of participants is limited to 100 people in the summer term as the course is part of the module “Strategic and International Management I”. Each semester the registration is made on StudOn according to the principle “first come, first served”.

Current Information:

Kick-off

The kick-off event with the practice partner will take place on 12 April 2018 at 17:00 in room LG 0.424. The final group assignment will be carried out until the kick-off event. In case you got accepted in the course through StudOn and you already know who you want to be in one group with (condition: at least 4 group members) you can send an email including the group members’ names and matriculation numbers to moritz.hagen@fau.de. We will try to take your preferences into account as far as possible.

Q&A session with the practice partner

As part of the practical project, a Q&A session will take place on 06 June 2018 at 18:15 in H6 with the practice partner. Please send your questions in advance before 5 June 2018 by mail to moritz.hagen@fau.de.
