The importance of Empirical Social Research continues to increase, even outside social sciences. Firms increasingly use results of empirical analyses in order to respond to strategic issues and the decision-making associated therewith. In the course of master theses empirical research is also done and gains significance. Nevertheless, in order to be able to use empirical social research, it is necessary to develop an understanding for the relevant methods.
The aim of this seminar is to teach students, who plan to write their Master thesis soon, the basics to conduct empirical research and to give an overview of the relevant methods to do so. The acquired theoretical knowledge will be deepened by means of case studies and exercises in group work. At the end of the seminar students will be able to plan the entire research process, to apply the learned methods and to identify the relevant findings.
Please note that the seminar takes place as a block course (probably Friday/Saturday – all day). The exact dates will be announced soon.
